Church Street

The New India Coffee House on Church Street.
It's a short hop from the old location but still miles away from what it originally was. The India Coffee House is now housed in a small, air-conditioned (it doesn't work) shell that once housed a Japanese Restaurant. But expect things to change back to what you were used to, soon. The framed posters are the same, the uniform, the uniformed waiters and the stains on their uniforms are the same, the customers are the same, even though its layout has changed, the newspaper they read is the same - Deccan Herald and yes, the coffee is the same. It's only a matter time before the familiar stains are back on the walls too.

The Which Main? What Cross? The Exhibition - Is on until May 31st.
F&B Restaurant, Papanna Street, St Marks Road (on the right, soon after SBI). Ph: 080 - 40 333 888

1. Thank god they did not shut shop when they left MG road. I was heartbroken when I heard that the MG road place had closed. I have spent many afternoons hanging around, alone, with a book.
2.So the japanese restaurant shut down? It was the one place I always wanted to go to but had heard it was too expensive.
3.Your photographs are fantastic!
4.Please tell me the poster with the image of mahavir jain and the caption- full bodied and smooth-india coffee- continues to adorn the wall?
It used to be on the first floor at the mg road place.
5. Sorry for the very long comment.

Thank you, Marijke!

Sur,
The new place is rather small and I didn't notice that poster from the upper floor. I could have missed it though. Will go back and check. :)

But most of the little things that defined the older place are still around.

The Jap place shut down. The hottest Japanese restaurant in Bangalore at the moment is the one called Harima, Devatha Plaza, Residency Road. It's also a big hit with foodies from Mumbai because of the pricing!

They just opened this week right? I think i read something about it in the papers. The article said it was back in business and had opened to a packed house on Monday (they had a nice picture to go with the story too:). Am more than glad its back. Cant wait to go there..

I have not been here since they opened on Monday. Do they still allow smoking there?

"the stains on their uniforms are the same..." Wouldn't you have thought that they could have given the waiters new uniforms, or at least a jolly good boil wash at least? (The uniforms that is, not the waiters).

Like Bangalore Autodrivers I can only take you to places I like to go.
