Mekhri Circle

A long time ago, the stretch from Hebbal to Mekhri Circle was a difficult climb for the bullock carts that took the road. Mekhri Circle is close to the highest point in the area, in fact, one of the hour mantapas, the north one, is found here. It is hidden behind trees and the Ramana Maharshi shrine these days but was a landmark for a long time.

The travellers sighed with relief when they reached this spot and it is also a spot of an old shrine where they probably said, thank you and rested.

Spot the lucky thread around the wrist of an employee in a hospital.

Always interesting to look at the lucky charms and things worn for ‘protection’. The number of people wearing it in Bangalore is slightly less than in Mumbai. In a country where the health and safety of the people is no concern for the government, this is the only thing most people can afford. One of the results of uncertain life without or inadequate insurance and affordable healthcare: it can be good for the superstition and religious economy. That was why KH wrote ‘government’s work is god’s work’ on Vidhana Soudha in Bangalore.

South Palette.

I borrows 'South Palette' from KK Muralidharan, an art director from the Hindi film industry who on a visit to Bangalore spotted the bright and unique colours he saw in the city. I converted that into a hashtag that I began using on social media (instgram).

It is the called South Palette because it is not just Bangalore that shares this colour but the whole of South Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and parts of Andhra.

A hospital.

Birth, Death and all the pain in between. To ease it, you can buy yourself a comfortable insurance, be good to your family so that they stick around when you are in trouble and if you haven't done these two things, go pray.

Amen.

... I want angels to lift me.
