19s. Headbangalore.

Nearly 20 years back, there was a pub next door to this gaming haunt on Church Street called 19 Church Street. They played heavy metal music.

The basement garage was called Hangar 19 (Inspired by Megadeth's Hangar 18) on certain weekends when local bands like Crimson Storm and Spiritual Warfare played.

Names that are similar to the games these kids are playing.

Forget Benglur's Mains and Crosses. This is a great place to discover new things and lose your way: At any of the second hand book shops in the MG Road area.

Church Street

No streetlights: A passerby uses the light from his cellphone to view exhibits at Blowup.
Blow up, a street photography exhibition by BlindBoys.org. Church Street. Until 10.40pm, Monday, August 1o.
See street photography on display and where it belong - on the streets. Which Main? What Cross? has also pasted 8 pictures from this blog along with the photographers from Bangalore and across India. If you want to display your pictures, bring your prints along, paste it on the walls of Church Street. The friendly cops from have promised to keep an eye on them until Monday night too!

Billa, the boy from KGF who sells stickers on Chruch Street for Rs.10, was fascinated by the pictures on display. He had a lot a questions for the exhibitors and he was surprised to find out the each print on display cost only Rs.15 to print. His worry: Blowup was trying to sell the pictures and that would eat into his business.

Church Street

The New India Coffee House on Church Street.
It's a short hop from the old location but still miles away from what it originally was. The India Coffee House is now housed in a small, air-conditioned (it doesn't work) shell that once housed a Japanese Restaurant. But expect things to change back to what you were used to, soon. The framed posters are the same, the uniform, the uniformed waiters and the stains on their uniforms are the same, the customers are the same, even though its layout has changed, the newspaper they read is the same - Deccan Herald and yes, the coffee is the same. It's only a matter time before the familiar stains are back on the walls too.

The Which Main? What Cross? The Exhibition - Is on until May 31st.

Church Street / St. Marks Rd.

Here's one more building with decorative ramparts. This is the Bible Society Building that's rented out to Hard Rock Cafe - Benglur. I have clicked this picture from the tiny stretch of Church Street sandwiched between St Marks Rd. and MG Rd. See other buildings with ramparts.

Paani Puri.
And the complete message on the wall: India recognise Tamil Eelam. A Hindu country.

Like Bangalore Autodrivers I can only take you to places I like to go.
