Your photos are very beautiful.
The chalk markings seen here are also seen in Hyderabad, but I don't know exactly what they mean. Some are markings by the municipal people. Recently I was surprised to know that the Gurkha (who makes rounds at night in the streets) also makes some markings to keep track of the payments. Do you have Gurkhas "patrolling" the streets at night in B'lore?

Thanks for visiting my blog and for your encouragement.

Thank u. Loved ur blog too. I will be watching u :)

Yes. We have Gurkha;s patrolling the streets here too. However I'm not so sure about markings on the door. These marks seem to be done by Census or Tax officials.

I never could quite understand the logic behind the Gurkha patrolling. When I was younger, they would say "jaagte raho" while making their rounds. Now they don't say it, they just bang their stick on the street and make a loud noise. So I am thinking, isn't that actually quite a good indication to the thief? He can hide/become quiet as the Gurkha approaches and then resume his business once he has gone far enough to be out of the ear shot.
